So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Well I worked in corporate America for a bit trying to sell IT solutions. I don’t like working for other people and love fish so it was a perfect fit. I started working for a guy who does what I do, then worked at a local fish store and ended up running their maintenance van for about a year. They didn’t pay well. I realized I could make in two appointments what I made in a whole week so I got a truck and went to work.
I’ve always loved fish and water and truly believe everyone should have a well kept fish tank to enjoy some aquatic life in their home and or business. It’s been proven to relax and calm people that’s why they have them in doctors offices
Lets dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest struggle is trying to find new clients and convince them to spend upwards of $10,000 on an aquarium. But once they do they love it. Most of the time I love working for myself until you screw up Because there’s no one else to throw under the bus and it’s all your fault. Make your bed and sleep in it type of thing
What should we know about your business? What does your business do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My best quality is communication and accountability. I show up when I say I will. From what I’ve heard that’s a huge issue with other companies. That and selling crap product that’s overpriced. I don’t do that either.
Ok Last Question, What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success to me is being able to do whatever you want to do whenever you want to do it with no limits. I’m not there yet, maybe one day. I really believe few are. It’s not just money but that is a big part of it.
