Kevin Hart started a challenge where he asked celebrities and citizens to donate to the victims of Hurricane Harvey. Hart challenged artists such as Beyonce, Jay Z and Justin Timberlake to donate $25,000 each to help those affected by the devastating damage caused by the hurricane in Texas in an Instagram video over the weekend.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is the latest star to take on the challenge and contribute to the campaign.
“Anytime our country gets hit hard with a natural disaster…that kind of stuff has a way of bringing us together as a country. Regardless of race and politics, we all want to step up to the plate do everything we can to help out our brothers and sisters and families in need,” Johnson said in a video posted to his social media accounts.
Johnson responded to Kevin in his own Instagram post saying: ‘Kevin Hart, you issued the Hurricane Harvey challenge, I appreciate you brother, I just donated my $25,000 to the Red Cross.’ He also added that his companies will be contributing to the cause as well, and encouraged others to donate “a buck or two.”
Johnson also explained how he and his family survived category five Hurricane Andrew in 1992. He encouraged those who have been devastated by the storm to keep their faith and believe that they can get through the rest of this crisis, rebuild their lives and overcome any obstacles that they will face in the aftermath of the hurricane.
