Missy Elliott will be returning to hip-hop and delivering her seventh studio album, according to Timbaland. The producer, who is working on his own album, stated to Rolling Stone “It’s coming.” The legendary producer shared that Missy has a single ready to launch at any time and also discloses the process of how they work together.
“It’s on her. She got the first single, it’s just a matter of when she wants to do it,” Timbaland stated. “We got the hollow-tip bullet in the gun. We have the game-changer right there.”
After teasing the single, Timbaland also spoke on the album stating, “It’s something you ain’t never heard Missy do. It sounds today, but the future.”
Although the two have worked together countless times over the years, Timbaland shared that he is never in the same room with Missy Elliott as she records. Instead of allowing Timbaland to sit in on the recording process, the female rap icon takes over the studio and does everything by herself.
“I’ve never watched her record, never in my whole career,” Timbaland stated. “I do it, she be like, ‘OK, I got it,’ and I leave the room. She kicks us out. That’s how she do it: She does everything herself.”
